The Print Queue is available with the IDpack Enterprise plan and is part of the Service Bureau feature. The Print Queue is designed for organizations with multiple locations that want to centralize badge printing. Each location can submit badges to the queue, while a central location such as Headquarters can review, manage, and print all badges in real time. Printed cards can then be shipped to the originating locations. This approach reduces the need for card printers at every site and ensures that badge printing remains under centralized control.
What is a Service Bureau
A Service Bureau is a centralized production model that allows an organization to manage badge printing for multiple clients, departments, or locations from a single secure environment. Instead of distributing printers and administrative access to every location, all badge production is handled centrally.
This model is well suited for organizations that:
- Need strict control over badge issuance and printing
- Want to reduce hardware and operational costs
- Serve multiple customers or internal teams with different badge designs
As a Service Bureau, you can manage and print badges on behalf of your customers. When users are created in the User Manager and assigned the Customer role, they receive limited access to the Producer module and only to their assigned projects. This allows them to submit badge requests without access to administrative features.
Using the Print Queue
From the Print Queue module:
-
Click a Record Full Name to open the Producer Edit Record screen. From there, you can print the selected record. After printing, click Remove Queue to release the record.
A Ship To field can be added in Designer using the Fields Definition. This information appears next to the badge ID number in the Print Queue and can be used to indicate the destination for each printed badge. In Designer, the Ship To field can be configured as a selection list with predefined destinations such as Toronto, Vancouver Office, or Las Vegas.
- Click a Project Name to open the project configuration in Designer.
- Click a User Full Name to open the user profile in User Manager.
You can also print one or multiple badges directly from the Print Queue:
- Select the records you want to process using the checkboxes
- An action menu appears where you can choose Print Preview or Remove from Queue
- Select multiple records to perform batch printing or batch removal
