Template Designer - Color CodeTemplate Designer – Color Code

The Color Code feature in Template Designer helps you categorize your cardholders in Producer. Click on a color to open the Color Picker and choose your desired color. You can also copy and paste a Hex Color Code, such as FF8000 for orange. Leave the description field empty to remove that color from the pull-down menu in Producer.

Content

The Color Code feature allows you to identify categories of cardholders using different design elements:

  • Background images based on the selected Color Code, configurable in the Project Manager.
  • Rectangle or Circle shapes filled with the selected Color Code.
  • Descriptions that represent the Color Code, such as Manager or Volunteer. You can output the description in a Text object using this shortcode: [colorcodename]

You can assign up to 15 colors with corresponding descriptions to represent security levels, roles, or access types. This is particularly useful in scenarios with multiple zones requiring different access levels (e.g., Manager, Security, Volunteer, Media, Visitor, etc.). The Color Code appears as a pull-down menu in Producer, allowing easy selection for each card.

Example Usage

You might use only two rows in your project: VALID and EXPIRED. Assign the color green to VALID and red to EXPIRED. In Producer, if a cardholder’s access needs to be revoked, simply select EXPIRED and save the record. When the badge is scanned, the status EXPIRED will appear in red on-screen, indicating it is no longer valid.

This flexibility ensures Color Codes can adapt to your organizational needs, providing a simple yet powerful way to manage cardholder categories visually.
